Natural Beauty/Alternative Booty

OK so this blog is dedicated to beauty products, alternatives, old wise tales and things of that nature but can we talk about this booty thing? By booty thing I mean the obsession with the rump, the junk in the trunk, the booty. Ok So I was on some other sites reading around and I came across this YouTube video and I ran to you guys immediately.  I hope I’m not branching off too far off topic of this blog but implants are bought for beauty so doesn’t that make it a beauty product? I guess… These booty implants look very unnatural and unhealthy and a lot of women are doing it. I’m disgusted. There are so many women walking around looking rather ridiculous. Celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Tameka “Tiny” Harris and a few others that have done it. I don’t know what the long-term effects of this procedure is but I think people really need to think about their health and what you will look like as an older person with these big lumps where natural tissue should be. Going under the knife is always dangerous and you can get booty naturally ok well you can’t grow a large butt but you can tone so that you have curves. Now I know there are some cases where there’s just no hope to get a shape to it and if it really makes you feel like less of a woman than ok but I feel most people are just being absolutely…stupid (Can I say that?) Stupid! I mean people have died because of trying to cut corners and not get the actual implants. A year ago a man posing as a doctor injected glue and tire sealant in a woman’s butt and she became very ill and infected. I think what bothers me most is the desperation for something that doesn’t prove anything  to anyone important. A booty doesn’t make you beautiful your spirit, confidence and the way you treat the people around you does. a Nikki Minaj butt shouldn’t be the focus of your life.

There are natural ways to exercise you way to give yourself a curvy shape in a healthy way and you don’t have to shell out thousands of dollars to do it. Like everything in natural beauty all you need is dedication and patience. Some celebrities have done that. Why don’t more people take note of those celebrities? Anyway I just needed to say something.  Yoga and Palates are great body shaping and toning exercises for shaping your entire body. Here is a link to some booty shaping exercises. I will actually do a post on stress and the effects it had on our bodies and health and beauty as well as yoga for stress relief and toning a little later.

Also this video is what struck me to write this blog. Natural is truly better especially if you have to go through what the lady in this video is going through. You Should not be able to flip your butt like that. SMH! I refuse to post it directly on my page but you can click the link and share your thoughts, frustrations and anything else at the bottom.

I will try not to drift this far off topic in the future but I just had to do it this one time

Here I go again but I had to reblog this because I notice there’s a lot of talk about castor oil among the napturals for hair. I wasn’t thinking about castor oil beyond hair. But it turns out that it can be helpful for acne. A problem many of us just can’t get rid of so here is a reblog on Castor oil for acne. I will return soon with the benefits of castor oil on hair since I haven’t talked about it at all yet.

I Have A Song For Everything

Sometimes I like to post songs that are uplifting and freeing or just songs that we can identify with as women. Songs that talk about our flaws like Elle Varner’s “So Fly” or just being an everyday girl in a Hollywood world like India’s song “Video.” I fell in love with this song by Alicia Keys instantly because it speaks to the feeling you have when you are coming into becoming your own woman.  I’m posting this for you because a lot of people are transitioning whether it’s their hair, new job, graduating from college or stepping into a new phase in their life as a new wife or mom. And can relate.

So enjoy Alicia Keys-Brand New Me

And to the rest … Don’t be mad we found a brand new kind of free 🙂

You Don’t Have To Run To Sally’s

So some of us are trying to gradually stop buying over the counter products for different reasons; Some of us are trying to save a dollar to splurge somewhere else, some us are just tired of products that don’t work.  Then there are those of us who know that the best things are homemade like… peach cobbler and hair conditioner.  You don’t always have to run to Sally’s Beauty Supply. These are some things that I have substituted for over the counter products or some things that I have heard about that are great subs.  We don’t always have to run to Sally’s sometime we can just run in the kitchen and find what we need for our beauty products. These subs are for hair products but I’m working on something for our other issues. It’s Saturday night so here are some tips just in case your girls call for an unplanned night of bar hopping and you’re looking a little unprepared. Lol! Iv’e been there. No panic and no need to run to Sally’s.

Katie Makkai Speaks About Pretty

When I started this blog I thought I would only write. I wanted to keep it open to everyone becuase some things are just universal like insecurities and I wanted to create dialogue about our everyday things that we go through. I find myself sharing more and more and I enjoy doing it. Katie Makkai has a very powerful message for us all and I’m just sharing…

Mmmm…Berries!

I like to reblog to share things that I find that you may need but may not be looking for. I love that they call this face food and are conscious about the ingredients they put in their products.

Generation Green

Started my day off with a bunch of  berries…on my face!

Oh No! My Legs Are Burning

Have your friends ever called you for a spur-of-the-moment girls night out?  So you comply and then you realize you haven’t shaved your legs in a few days. Then you rush to get ready and half shave your legs just to find out that you have razor burn. Aaaaaah! Well don’t panic there are some things that you can do.

Home Remedies for Razor Burns

1. Take 1 teaspoon of warm water and dissolve 2 uncoated aspirins in it. Make it into a fine paste and rub it on your skin. Keep it for some time and wash it later with lukewarm water.

2. Razor burns can also be treated by patting apple cider vinegar at the affected areas.

3. A homemade razor burn mask can be made by using 2 strawberries and 1 tsp sour cream.  Mash the strawberries and mix them into the sour cream. After you complete your shaving you can apply this on your face and legs. Leave it for ten minutes and wash it off.

You Live And You Learn

I feel like I have been talking about hair a lot lately but I learned something that made me feel so informed. Hair burns at 451 degrees. Now I remember when i bought my flat-iron a couple of years back and I was looking for the best flat-iron that got hottest because I thought that’s what my hair needed.  My hair is stubborn. My flat-iron goes up to 450 and I would always crank it up to that. In the beginning I thought that it was crazy and unhealthy but after getting used to it and talking to a friend who was equally as ignorant I kept on doing it. I really thought that I needed the highest heat. My friend did too. a Then to reassure ourselves, we started talking about, “Well I’m sure the stove at the shop gets hotter and they know how to do hair so 450 can’t be that bad.” SMH! The ignorance! Now I’m not a stylist and I don’t have patience with hair so I didn’t do it often but once is enough to cause an irreversible problem. So I realized that my hair is “acting up” because I have not flat ironed it in 10 months. New Year’s Eve was the last time for me and it’s because I noticed my hair was burned and every time I touched it the strands would just fall.  I know exactly the problem and yes I do need a trim as well.  You live and you learn. Damn…

On the bright side if you still want to enjoy the ease of straight hair there is a healthier way to do it. There is an Ipak argon oil infused flat-iron that seems much healthier that the regular flat-iron’s in the stores. It has a chamber where there is a heat protectant solution to coat your hair so that it does not burn.  Its’ a about $69.99 which is a lot cheaper than most irons as well. This flat-Irion has vents that infuse the heat protectant solution onto your hair as you flat-iron it. It also has a heat control and steam options.  I wish I knew all of this growing up.  Damn…

Here where you can get the iron

–3 tablespoons of used finely ground coffee
–A Small Glass of Milk
Instructions
–Add the used finely ground coffee into a bowl. Stir in milk until it achieves a think texture. Mix the ingredients till well blended. Try not to make the paste too diluted or it’ll be runny and it’s gonna be messy during application. If mixture becomes too runny, simply add a little more coffee into it.

Just Sharing…

I  think it’s important to share helpful information with people if you know it can benefit them in a great way. A lot of times women don’t like to share their secrets and usually it’s not that much of a secret. Some women like to be the belle of every ball and even if they see you need a little sprousing up or something that can be fixed with their help they will turn the other way. All they care about is how great you make them look by you looking like a damn fool. They will be the first ones to ask you about your regimen when you do finally figure it out though (trust me). I also must say I like how things are changing because now women are more comfortable sharing their beauty tips and secrets. You can walk up to a lady and say I love your hair what did you use?  She just might tell you jojoba oil, ecostyler and whatever else she’s using and how she got her look. So I like where things are going with us. This is why I reblog and reference people as much as possible. Anyway I’ll share with you some things I have found helpful to me. Some of you may already know and that’s great too. Even if they weren’t helpful to me maybe they will help you.
